How Long Will A Boiler Installation Take in Your NJ Home?
People in older New Jersey-area homes often call us asking about upgrading or replacing their boiler, and invariably one of the main questions we hear is “How long does it take to install a new boiler?”
In truth, a lot of factors affect how quickly an NJ boiler installation can be done. It could be anywhere from a single day, to several, just depending on the job. So, in this article, we wanted to briefly talk about the major factors that affect installation time.
Major Factors That Determine How Quickly an NJ Boiler Installation Can Be Done
-
The home survey
Before the job actually begins, you’ll need a home visit to survey your property and determine how difficult the boiler installation will be. This should only take a few hours at most, and at the end, you’ll be provided with a detailed estimate of the price and time requirements.
-
The type of replacement being done
Broadly speaking, there are three types of boiler upgrades that could be performed, and they have different time requirements.
-
“Like for like.”
The easiest upgrade is when the boiler is being replaced by another substantially similar boiler, in the same location. In these cases, when the boiler is simply being swapped out for a new model, the job can often be done in a single day.
-
Relocation.
Often, the new boiler a client is looking at won’t be able to be put in the exact same place, or maybe they want the boiler moved to somewhere more convenient. In these situations, the pipes and connectors will have to be moved and modified as well, which adds substantially to the installation time. This can easily add another day to the procedure.
-
Full system upgrade.
For those with older homes, simply swapping out the boiler may not be a good idea when there are numerous newer and more energy-efficient models available. However, these often require extensive updates to the pipes and gas lines – this is when the job could potentially take three days or more.
-
Other fixes and upgrades
You may want more than just the boiler replaced. For example, you might want a new smart thermostat, or to have your pipes entirely cleaned out while the work is done. These sorts of add-ons can potentially also add another day or so.
